Since the 1990's HIV&AIDS has decimated the adult childbearing population in Kenya. It is estimated that two million children have been orphaned. In the slums of Kibera, 20,000 orphaned children live on the streets or in one room shacks with no amenities and no means of support. The day to day realities of Kibera are poverty, hunger, crime, prostitution, violence, disease, HIV&AIDS, lack of education and corruption.
Surprisingly, in the midst of these desperate circumstance, impoverished families, who often go hungry and who cannot afford to keep their own children in school, nevertheless OUT OF LOVE take orphaned children into their homes, sharing the little they have.
